If you’re looking for a simple and pain-free procedure to fix the look of minor flaws like cracked or chipped teeth, veneers could be a great treatment option for you. Veneers are personally made to fit perfectly over your teeth to mask imperfections.
For years, patients from Longmont, Mead, Hygiene, and Niwot have trusted our team at AAA Health Centered Dentistry to enhance their smile with veneers.
What is a veneer?
A veneer is a custom-made thin coating created from composite resin or porcelain that covers the surface of your tooth. Veneers are used to mask:
chipped, cracked, or misshapen teeth
gaps between teeth
permanently stained teeth
Porcelain veneers generally take longer to create since they are made in a lab. Many patients don’t mind the wait since the veneers are strong and don’t get discolored easily.
The placement of your veneer is quick and simple. Dr. Becvar or one of his team members typically shaves enamel from the front and back of your tooth to fit the veneer. This creates a more natural look by matching the fit of to the rest of your teeth. Then we bond the veneer to your tooth. It’s as easy as that!
Composite Resin Veneers
Composite veneers are crafted with the same purpose as porcelain veneers, which is to mask minor flaws. Unlike porcelain veneers, they don’t have to be created in a lab and can be placed in just one visit.
When placing your composite veneer, we don’t need to take off as much enamel.
Since the dentist uses composite resin materials to sculpt and bond your veneer in the office, the whole process may be done in as little as one visit. Dr. Becvar or one of his staff members will coat your tooth with composite resin and use a special light to bond it. We then polish your tooth to make it blend in with your other natural teeth.
These kind of veneers aren’t as durable as porcelain veneers but can be easily fixed if need be.
How do I take care of my veneers?
You can continue your normal oral routine. It is recommended by the American Dental Association to brush twice a day and floss once.
Stay away from colorful or sugary food and drinks that can be harmful to your teeth and cause discoloration. Don’t chew on hard foods like ice or objects such as pens as they can damage your veneers. If your veneers do become discolored or damaged, they will stand out more than your other teeth. We suggest maintaining a nutritious and balanced diet to give your veneers and teeth a healthy environment.
The American Dental Association suggests brushing your teeth twice a day for at least two minutes and flossing once. This routine will help protect you from developing plaque buildup, cavities, and tooth decay. It’s important to remember to treat your veneers like your natural teeth as they too can decay.
Regular dental visits allow us to check the condition of your veneers and make modifications if necessary.
